This timelapse is called Detroit-Chicago Amtrak 1988 Time-Lapse Super-8 Music, and was created by an awesome Primelapse user on YouTube on YouTube. It is 00:08:16 long. The last time we checked (on March 31st, 2015), it had around 11,000 plays on YouTube
In 1988 my friend, Harold asked if he could borrow my camera for a head end ride to make a visual record of the Chicago – Detroit corridor for a study his consulting business, LSTS, was doing. I instructed him exactly how to to set up and operate the camera and change cartridges. To my amazement he produced a perfect product, having had zero experience with this. He hated setting digital clocks and only used instamatic and point and shoot cameras, but this film IS his work.
The train is traveling westbound from Detroit. I added music to enhance the flow. The two tunes are very different, so if you don’t like the first, bring up the sound for the next which starts at 4:45 The first song is Hourglass by Walter Ghoul’s Lavender Brigade a very obscure 1960s psychedelic band. Its really timeless and expertly produced. The second piece is the high energy Minoti on the Run by the fantabulous Peter Thomas and I know you are going to like it no matter who you are.
